Travel Basketball
2025-26 Season
The OYAA Travel basketball program is for boys and girls in grades 3 - 6 who attend Olentangy schools or live within the Olentangy School District boundaries. Teams play in the Central Ohio Basketball Association (COBA), a central Ohio-based league with teams in and around I-270. Teams play in one independent, local tournament and the end-of-season COBA league tournament. Home games are played at Olentangy middle schools.
Tryouts are held in mid to late September. Each high school program and/or approved evaluator selected by the high school coach runs the tryout, evaluates players, and assigns teams. Parents interested in coaching must complete a volunteer registration to be considered.
Registration opens September 1 and closes 30 mins after start on night 2.
NO ADMITTANCE WITHOUT REGISTRATION! Be prepared to show your registration confirmation at check-in. Read guidelines that follow to ensure you register for the correct division:
- Students must try out for the team associated with the high school in their current attendance area. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you are unsure which high school your address is assigned, you can find your attendance area on the Olentangy School District website.
- Students must try out at their correct grade level (no playing up unless determined by HS coaches). 2nd graders are not eligible to participate. Any player found to be registered outside their true grade will be canceled with no refund.
- Please note there are separate 3rd and 4th grade boys divisions; however, 3rd and 4th grade girls are combined.
- Tryout dates and times are determined by the high school coaches. Sessions will begin promptly at the indicated time. It is strongly recommended players attend all scheduled sessions if possible. Arrive 30 minutes early the first night to check in.
- All tryouts are closed. Only coaches/evaluators and participants are permitted in the gyms during tryout times.

What is the Cost? Tryouts are FREE. For those who make the team, the cost for each player will be $365 plus cloth cost (typically $55-85). This fee covers the cost of referees, gym time, association fees, team equipment and two tournaments.
How much time is involved? Practices will be 2-3 nights per week starting in late October. Games will begin in early December and continue through February (usually 2 games per week). Players are expected to attend all practices/games unless they are ill or have a valid excuse.
Playing Time: Playing time is determined by each HS head coach.
Refund Policy: Read the Program Dates/Policies page for program dates/deadlines.
Tryout Results: Tryout results will be sent electronically on September 29. Payment due October 1.
OYAA Night: Support the program at your high school. Students wearing their current season OYAA Travel Basketball jersey are admitted free with paid adult admission. *Tournament games excluded. Dates and times are added as information is received from the varsity programs.
